AI systems often fall short in representing diverse communities because they’re trained on data that doesn’t reflect the full spectrum of human experience. This gap can lead to outcomes that unintentionally exclude or misrepresent marginalized groups.
Our first wave of communication centers community voices, emphasizing the importance of active participation in shaping how AI evolves. As the World Economic Forum notes, “technologies are not neutral; they are only as good—or as flawed—as the people who design them.” It’s up to all of us to help guide these tools to better reflect our stories, values, and truths.
Last year, we were honored to showcase our technology at Congressman Danny Davis’s Back-to-School Picnic, engaging directly with our community. Our mission is to develop technology that prepares our community for the future of life and work—through active collaboration, representation, and shared purpose.
Did you know that up to 95% of Black learners are not reading or writing at grade level?
Meet Karla—one of our youth board members and a product tester at BlackGPT Labs. We believe learners should help shape the tools made for them. That’s why Karla, and others like her, play a direct role in designing solutions that build confidence, curiosity, and skill.
With BlackGPT, learning is never one-size-fits-all. It’s personal, flexible, and responsive to each learner’s unique path—every moment, every day.
